SHARING OUR RUBY
Sharing Our Ruby is an initiative by Men & Women of Character Organization designed to honor the enduring legacy of our beloved co-founder, Chaneta Ruby Leonard, who passed away unexpectedly, leaving a profound impact on all who knew her. This program encapsulates Chaneta's dedication to nurturing, creativity, and leadership through a series of community-oriented projects and educational scholarships, celebrating her life and contributions.
Chaneta Ruby Leonard Bio Tribute:
Chaneta's bio, as it appeared for Men & Women of Character, reminds us of her passion: "A Childcare provider with more than 30 years working with children, Chaneta felt that being part of Men & Women of Character would ensure she stayed actively involved in guiding and encouraging creativity and growth in children."
Legacy and Impact:
"Sharing Our Ruby" not only commemorates Chaneta’s life and contributions but also perpetuates her vision of a community enriched by creativity, care, and leadership. Each component of the program is a reflection of her values and a commitment to continue her legacy in tangible, impactful ways.
By engaging the community through these diverse initiatives, Men & Women of Character Organization keeps Chaneta’s spirit alive, fostering the development of future leaders and creatives who embody her passion and dedication.
Annual Sharing Our Ruby Childcare Provider of the Year Award:
Introduced at the Annual Hats N Heels Awards Luncheon, this award recognizes outstanding childcare providers who exemplify dedication and love toward children’s growth and well-being. The 2024 recipient, Alicia Ellis, celebrated for her thirty years of exceptional service, exemplifies the spirit and commitment Chaneta valued deeply.
Neat Creativity Crates:
Every year on January 7th, Chaneta's birthday, seven creativity crates filled with arts and craft supplies are awarded to local childcare centers and in-home childcare programs that do not receive government funding. This component celebrates Chaneta’s love for the arts and her creative spirit, fostering artistic expression among children in under-resourced facilities.
Gents & Jewels of Character:
